Shift trade
Chiefly a US and Canadian term. Shift trade means two team members exchanging assigned shifts so both remain covered. In UK teams the more usual term is shift swapping.

The mechanics are the same as a UK shift swap, but British scheduling copy is more likely to say swap than trade. The resulting rota still has to respect rest and skill requirements.
