Federal minimum wage

A US term. The federal minimum wage is the FLSA hourly pay floor, currently $7.25 an hour. In Australia the local frame is the national minimum wage plus award rates, not a federal minimum wage.

In Australia, do not write federal minimum wage. The local frame is the national minimum wage plus the relevant modern award rates. From 1 July 2026 the national minimum wage is $26.44 an hour, but many hourly workers sit on higher award rates.
