The federal minimum wage is the US hourly pay floor under the Fair Labor Standards Act. It is $7.25 an hour and has been unchanged since 24 July 2009, though many states set higher rates.

It is $7.25 an hour, effective 24 July 2009, for covered non-exempt employees. Many states and localities set higher minimum wages. Where both federal and state law apply, the employer has to comply with the higher rate.
This is a US frame. The UK does not have a federal system for minimum wage, Canada is mostly provincial, and Australia combines a national floor with award rates.
