In Canada, do not write federal minimum wage as the default local rule. Most workplaces follow a provincial or territorial minimum wage. Ontario’s general minimum wage is C$17.60 an hour until 30 September 2026 and C$17.95 from 1 October 2026 — labelled Ontario, not national. Federally regulated workplaces sit under the Canada Labour Code.
