Vacation

Chiefly a US and Canadian term. Vacation means time away from work for rest or travel.

In Australian workplace language, the usual term is annual leave or just holidays. A US page saying someone is “on vacation” is usually describing approved leave from work, but the Australian legal frame sits under the Fair Work system and the relevant award or agreement, not a US PTO model.
