Vacation is the standard Canadian term for time away from work for rest or travel.

In Canada, vacation is not just an HR label. Provincial employment standards usually pair vacation time with vacation pay, and the exact entitlement depends on the province or territory. Ontario example only: with less than five years of service, most employees get two weeks of vacation time and 4% vacation pay; at five years or more, that rises to three weeks and 6%.

US readers will usually understand the term immediately. UK and Australian readers would more naturally say annual leave or holiday.
