Exempt / non-exempt
A US term. Exempt and non-exempt are FLSA labels for minimum wage and overtime coverage. Canada does not use those labels as its default employment-standards frame.
A US term. Exempt and non-exempt are Fair Labor Standards Act labels for federal minimum-wage and overtime coverage.
In Canada, do not copy those labels into policy. Hours, overtime, and minimum wage sit under provincial employment standards or, for federally regulated workplaces, the Canada Labour Code. Ontario’s overtime rule after 44 hours is a provincial standard, not a US-style exempt/non-exempt test.
