In Canada, do not write penalty rates as a local legal default. Overtime, public holidays, and minimum wage sit in provincial employment standards, or under the Canada Labour Code for federally regulated workplaces. Ontario’s overtime example is 1.5× after 44 hours — labelled Ontario, not a national penalty-rate table.
